Inspirational UCL delegate

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

The last time I delivered a Presentations course at UCL was a memorable occasion on two counts. Firstly, I got ‘Excellent’ feedback across the board from all delegates, and secondly, one of the participants was Mark O’Leary.

When he arrived I was amazed at how well Mark was walking on his prosthetic leg. The leg itself was extraordinary. He told me that he had had an operation to have the top inserted directly into his bone. Unusually it was replacing his skeleton and this gave him tremendous possibilities and more comfort. He then told me he was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in the autumn with a group of other amputees to promote the charity Limbless Association. Impressive to say the least!

If you want to know more about Mark’s trek, take a look at his website. I look forward to hearing about his amazing adventures when he returns!

Lancaster mezze day

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Pete is up at Lancaster University today delivering our new Communicate with Confidence course. This mezze of sessions enables the delegates to pick & choose ‘small plates’ of coaching. Including:

• Working on active listening in 1:1 sessions
• Presenting with confidence
• Physical and vocal presence
• Skills in starting conversations at conferences and networking events
• Practice at making interventions and contributing in meetings

The university is also undergoing some exciting new building rennovations so voice work is really being put the test with the distant sound of drilling!

A good time had by all!

Working with WM Enterprise

WM Enterprise

If your work is specialized, complex and demanding, how can you speak about it accessibly? It’s a question faced by academics and business leaders alike.

Yesterday, WM Enterprise, specialists in economic, business and social policy consultancy addressed this dilemma on their team day led by VOX. Emma and Pete enjoyed leading an exploration of ways to pitch and present sophisticated material. Good stuff.
